I am pleased to endorse Michelle DiGruttolo for the Shorewood City Council. With over 20 years of distinguished service in the U.S. Army, Michelle has shown an unwavering commitment to serving our country, and now she’s ready to bring that same dedication to our community. She is a proven problem solver who seeks innovative ideas and solutions to tackle our challenges.

Michelle currently serves on Shorewood’s Park Commission, bringing a conservation-minded vision to enhancing our parks for everyone to enjoy. Her leadership is driven by her deep respect for others and her openness to fresh perspectives and new ideas. She understands that the needs and voices of Shorewood residents must come first, and she’s committed to listening to all members of our community. She shares my belief in data-driven decisions. Her focus on collaboration and community-centered solutions makes her the right choice to represent us on the City Council. Michelle DiGruttolo will lead Shorewood toward a brighter, more inclusive future, and I encourage you to support her in this election.

As a consulting psychologist, I have spent my career assessing, developing, and coaching corporate leaders.  I have consulted with a number of City Managers and Council Members, so when I say that Michelle DiGritullo is an exceptional leader with great skills, I mean it.  She not only has the drive to get real business results, she also has the interpersonal skills to motivate and collaborate with others to get things done.  In my opinion, she will be a breath of fresh air on the Shorewood City Council.  Why?  She is smart, articulate, a deep thinker, and she has the vision to see a better version of Shorewood, more inclusive and transparent.  

Her work history is impressive.  Michelle’s military experience in Iraq and Afghanistan have prepared her for a civilian career as a geopolitical consultant to multinational corporations. Throughout her life, she has gone head to head with world leaders to prove her case.  She is experienced with analyzing information and works by collaborating with others.  She brings this skillset to her current city position on the Shorewood City Park Board, where she fearlessly asks probing questions and expects answers.  

In simple terms, this means that Michelle will not rubber stamp city policies and contracts without question.  She will not accept a proposal without a plan for implementation and oversight.  She will not leave the taxpayers out of an important conversation.  She will be accountable and expect others to also be held accountable.   

So what brings a retired Army Lt. Colonel, with years spent as an intelligence officer and White House advisor, to Shorewood?  She was looking for a quiet place with great schools and beautiful surroundings.  Michelle wanted to experience four seasons in a diverse middle-class community, and Shorewood is now her home.

I am honored to call Michelle DiGritullo a colleague and to have her for a friend.  I proudly endorse her as a new generation of fearless leadership for the Shorewood City Council.
